Subject: Promised Response ❤️

Hi All, I am aware that each of you did not see all the emails to me about Johnny's Funeral. Basically they said each of you was pleased with the event. It was reverent, poignant, and moving. I promised to send you my perspective. This is it... I sincerely believe that "what I said was not what each of you heard"! I discovered some time ago that when I preach that the words that I speak are not mine, or at least not mine alone. I always ask the Holy Spirit to guide my preaching and I am sure He does. Not only am I assisted in my thoughts and words but they fall on the ears of those who hear differently to each listener. More often than not when I preach something that I think is mediocre that's when I get feedback that what I said was exactly what a listener "needed to hear"! This leads me to believe that it is not my words that hit home but rather the Holy Spirit touching someone's soul. I am only the instrument of delivery. It is somewhat like in the Acts of the Apostles when the Disciples were preaching to the masses in Hebrew or Aramaic but the listener heard the words in their own language - be it Greek, Latin, Arabic, etc. No...I am not saying I am up there with the Apostles and speaking "miracles"! However, I do believe that God can use us to proclaim His Word in meaningful ways if we will allow Him. The video is not out yet...but it is coming. When I watched it recently I did not have the same reaction as some of you did about the delivery. I can only understand this all by saying that it was not me. I believe it was the Holy Sprit touching you "where you are and how you need." I will say that I felt compelled to have the funeral and I am very glad that I did - with all of you. Obedientia ad Iesum Christum, Charles J. Schauber, Sr. ❤️

Subject: Re: Charles !! "Thank you" !

Hello Schauber Family, If you told me that tonight I would drop everything and watch the funeral for an uncle I barely knew I would have said you were crazy. But for some reason I was drawn to watch it after receiving the link this evening. Uncle John, or "Butchie" as I remember him being called, was different and had a lot of heartache in his life and caused a lot of pain to his family. And listening to the funeral service there were many happy and touching moments, but there were also times where I was filled with sadness because of the hurt he experienced and the pain he caused others, that even in death continues with his estranged family. But Charlie, Bernadette, Handley and all those in attendance or who were there in spirit or supported John's burial financially, rose above all that and did what Jesus calls us all to do...'love first'. John and Irene would be so happy and thankful you were there for their son John. May he rest in peace and may we all try to be more loving, understanding, forgiving and compassionate in our own lives as you all were in planning, paying for and taking part in this sacred moment. May God Bless you! Love, ❤️ Teri Randow Hodson 9-2020

Deacon Charles,

Your funeral send off service for our brother John was just "Exceptional". You had all of us 'spellbound' with every word and story and family memory and history and symbol; which seemed to just flow off your tongue through divine inspiration. It was so powerful and yet so personal to our brother John, Jr. and his time, life and place in our enormous family that Irene & John, Sr. left for all of us. Thank you again for your amazing grace. You have become a 'prodigious asset' and 'patriarchal figure' to our family; as witnessed yesterday at "our brother John's funeral". St. Paul's R.C. Church, Delaware City, DE.

Much Love,💛 Bernadette 9-2020
